My distinctive artwork has been fashioned from sections of weather-beaten timber, scrap metal, old linoleum and other discarded materials from old farms and local tips. I use systems of repetition to make assemblages to create images which are pictorial, minimal and abstract. By showing the spirit of the landscape I am “rediscovering the familiar through the discarded.” My art practice is a process of collecting and transforming junk from local tips. From this comes the concepts and titles for my art. Such as with ‘Autumn Paddock’, the flaking paint on sawn sections of weather-beaten timber arranged to evoke a dry frosty paddock in autumn.
